Locust Grove Church (Giffin Hill) (1921 - )
The Gospel Messenger June 18, 1921 page 383 Locust Grove church met in council March 27, with Eld. M. Clyde Horst as moderator, for the purpose of organizing the church into a separate congregating. Formerly we were a part of the Johnstown congregation, but will now be known as Locust Grove. We have a membership of seventy-five. In organizing, we retained the present officers until the end of 1921. Bro. Jerome Blough was elected to the presiding elder; Bro. P. C. Strayer, pastor; Bro. D. C. Ribblett, clerk; the writer; “Messenger” correspondent. Brethren W. G. Wilson and D. C. Ribblett were elected delegates to District Meeting. Bro. P. C. Strayer was elected delegate to Annual Conference. Following the District meeting, Bro. Virgil C. Finnell gave us his illustrated lecture on “The Little Brown God and His Little White Imps.” May 8 we observed Mothers’ Day by rendering an appropriate program. Bro. W. J. Hamilton, of Rockwood, Pa, has been engaged to conduct a series of meetings for us, beginning June 18 and closing June 26 with a love feast. In preparation for this revival we are conducting cottage prayer meeting each Tuesday evening, with a growing interest; also a prayer meeting and song practice each Wednesday evening at the church. – Elizabeth Ribblett.
