Bandon Church (1912-28) The Gospel Messenger April 27, 1912 page 369 Vol. 61 No. 17Coquille Valley church met in council April 6, with Bro. J. F. Stevens as moderator. The petition from the Bandon congregation, for the privilege of organizing themselves into a organization of the their own, was granted. Bro. Noah Bonewitz and Cora S. and Pearl Barklow were appointed Christian Worker officers. Our mission box, containing $7. Was opened, and the money will be used for District mission work. The Sunday-school birthday box contained $4. This we decided to send to Bro. Keltner, of Boise, Idaho, whose house was burned sometime ago. An additional collection of $5 was also taken. The Gospel Messenger July 13, 1912 page 445 Vol. 61 No. 29 Bandon.—June 22 the members of this place met in our new but yet unfinished church-house, with three elders, from Myrtle Point. Oregon, present, who organized us into a congregation.. We are now better fitted for effective work. One of elders present, Bro. Charles Barklow was chosen as elder in charge, and Bro. W. R. Mavity was elected secretary-treasurer. We feel greatly encouraged, as our Sunday-school is growing. We are looking forward to a series of meetings, which we contemplate holding soon, If necessary arrangements can be made.—Mrs. J. W. Burnett, Bandon, Oregon. June 26.
From Thomas Barklow Diary He list the ten charter members of the church. June 22, 1912 Sat., I and Mamma (Thos. Barklow and wife) went to Bandon today to help organized a church there. Charley and family and Molie and children and J. S. Root was down there. There were 10 members, Willie Barnett and wife, W. A. Hover and wife, Will Mavity and Grandma Bennett, W. J. Miller, Jessie Barnett, Sarah Randlman, Leona Wagner.
