The Gospel Messenger Jan. 28, 1899 page 61 New Hope. – After urgent calls for assistance the Mission Board of Oklahoma and Indian Territories sent elders A. W. Austin, I. F. Betts and Jas. A. Stouder to our assistance. Jan. 4 we met in council at the home of Bro. Henry Troxel. The meeting was organized by electing Bro. Austin moderator, and Bro. Betts, Clerk. The business before the meeting was disposed of to the satisfaction of nearly all present. Eld. Samuel Edgecomb was chosen to take charge of the church. the organization was completed by choosing the writer, clerk, William Troxel, treasurer, and Mary E. Troxel, solicitor. Meetings were held in a schoolhouse near by each night. The Word was preached with power, but owning to dark nights and bad weather the congregations were small. – J. H. Troxel, Bunnett, Okla.
