Cotton Creek Church (1893-94)
The Gospel Messenger May 9, 1893 p 301 Clarkson, Okla. – I arrived among the Brethren at Sheridan, Okla., on the 12th inst. And made a few visits, and found some new members. I attended an organization on the 15th. There are sixteen members, with one minister, in the new church. I next met with the Mount Hope church and assisted them in the church work. I left then on the 18th, full of love for each other, and full of fidelity to the church, I am now at the house of Bro. Appleman. There is plenty of room in Oklahoma Territory for workers. Come and help. - A. W. Austin, April 19.
The Gospel Messenger April 17, 1894 page 252 Vol. 32 No. 16 Cottonwood Creek, Okla,—We are a little band of nine members, located in Kingfisher County, Okla., nine miles east and three miles south of Hennessey. We were organized as the Cotton, wood Creek church, and stand very much in need of a minister, as we have meetings but once a month. I see in the Messenger that one church has eight ministers and nine deacons. Four of the preachers are elders. I hope some dear brother will come into our midst, as we feel very lonely without a shepherd. We have Sunday school each Sunday and prayer-meeting each Thursday night. Pray for ns, brethren, when it goes well with yon. — J. J. McMillan, Sheridan, Okla.
