From the Chippewa Congregation

Dear Brethren of the Primitive Christian: - I send you the following items for publication. The Chippewa congregation located principally in Wayne Co., Ohio, and consisting of about three hundred members, met in council on the 29th of May, and agreed upon a division of the congregation in three parts. The congregation originally was scattered over a large territory, embracing over eight hundred square miles.

The divided congregation as it now stands, consists of the Chippewa congregation in the North with the Beach Grove meeting-house, elder George Irvin and one minister in the second degree, and six deacons and over one hundred members. The Orrville congregation on the east, with elder J. B. Shoemaker and two deacons and about eighty members.  The Sepo Valley meeting-house, built and owned by the Brethren and River Brethren, and the Leisure meeting-house, a union house for all denominations, falls to this congregation. The southern part is the Wooster congregation; it includes the Paradise meeting-house, owned by the Brethren and River Brethren, and the Moscow meeting-house in which the Brethren have an interest. The ministerial force in this congregation consists of brethren Cyrus Hoover, David M. Irvin, and David M. Smith, with three deacons and about eighty members.

The division gave general satisfaction, and we hope will result in the advancement of the glorious cause of Christ in this part of his moral vineyard.      E. L. Yoder.    Madisonburg, Ohio.
